Individual Affiliation
Do We Need It? - Do We Want It?
Individual Affiliation (aka Individual Membership, son of Individual Registration) seems to have been one of our Chairman's main hobbyhorses since his election.
But do we need it? and more importantly do we want it?
I don't know if it is because everybody has become so bored with the subject, but there seems to be a complete lack of interest and if we are not careful we will get it by default.
The ETTA issued its list of 25 FAQs and we published them on The Forum - but there was never a great number of reads and posts were almost nonexistent. I've no idea how many replies the ETTA received but I suspect it was not that many - does anybody know?
I very much doubt if IA will have a direct impact on the majority of players. Most serious players will certainly benefit as they will not have to pay multiple affiliation fees, but what of the rest? How will it affect grass root players and most importantly, how will it affect the army of volunteer administrators that run our local leagues, up and down the country?
The English Table Tennis Forum is neither for nor against IA but we DO want to see it properly discussed and those views listened to by the ETTA.
We have added a new forum within The English Table Tennis Forum specifically to discuss Individual Affiliation.
Spam and Spammers
We are beginning to attract the odd rogue post which are being deleted as soon as they are detected, together with the membership of the person who posted it. Indeed any suspect member is deleted before they can post, which is why we ask that all genuine members include their full name when they register.
It would be easy to require prior authorization in order to post but we think the attraction of The Forum is the ability to post and reply instantly without having to wait for this. The downside is the odd rogue post. These are mainly obvious, so please just ignore them.

This is a new independent web site aimed specifically at "grass root" players and table tennis administrators - all we ask for is a love of the game. At the moment we are in our infancy and the site has two main parts - The Forum and a guide to the County/League structure which many of us see as the backbone of English table tennis. more |
